maria cristina ostiMaria Cristina Osti obtained a diploma as lyrical singer at the "G.B. Martini" Conservatory in Bologna and a Degree in Literature and Philosophy at the University of Bologna with a specialization in "History". She initially collaborated with VideoItalia (Project of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities) for the realization of some documentaries on Italian folklore as an ethnographic researcher. She attended the "Courses for the training of actors" at the Teatro Colli in Bologna and "Design of light for the show" at the Academy of Light in Poggibonsi. She was artistic manager of the Teatro "G. Verdi" in Ferrara (loc. Porotto) until June 2013. Since 2015 she has been artistic manager of the "Lirica in Castello" festival for the summer season of the Teatro Comunale "C. Abbado" in Ferrara. She is responsible for the Casa della Musica e delle Arti of Vigarano Mainarda (situated in Vigarano Pieve – Ferrara - ). After a brilliant international career as a soprano, conducted by some of the most prestigious conductors, since 2005 she has undertaken the activity of director in operas. So she followed the stage realizations of various directors as assistant. Later she staged "Madama Butterfly", "Tosca", "Cavalleria rusticana", "La Vedova allegra", "L'Elisir d'amore", "Nabucco", "Il paese dei campanelli", "Pagliacci", "Il Barbiere di Siviglia". To remember, in particular, the Verdi realizations of "Rigoletto" (2010), "La Traviata" (2011) and "Il Trovatore" (2012), on the stage of the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara. In July 2013 she followed the direction of "Rigoletto" in the prestigious context of the inner courtyard of the Estense Castle in Ferrara. "Rigoletto" was then presented on the stage of the Teatro De Micheli in Copparo in March 2014. In May 2014 she staged "La Cenerentola" by G. Rossini at the Teatro Comunale "C. Abbado" in Ferrara for the season of the Teatro Ragazzi. In 2015 she created for the theater "De Micheli" of Copparo the staging of "La Bohème" by G. Puccini, a title revived at the Teatro Comunale "C. Abbado" in Ferrara as part of the 2015 season of the Teatro Ragazzi and in July in the courtyard of the Estense Castle with a prestigious cast of international level (review "Lirica in castello"). In March 2016 she created for the Teatro Comunale "C. Abbado" of Ferrara La Serva Padrona by G.B. Pergolesi and in May 2015 for the TPO of Occhiobello – Rovigo – the theatrical piece by F. De Laurentis "Facciamo silenzio". In 2017 she staged for the theaters "Sociale" of Mantua and "De Micheli" of Copparo "Madama Butterfly" by G. Puccini with great success. "La Serva padrona" by G.B. Pergolesi, together with the comedian Enrico Beruschi, was presented on the stages of Mantua and Collesalvetti. In Cascina she followed the direction of "Cavalleria rusticana" by P. Mascagni. A real personal triumph, also in 2017, was obtained with "Madama Butterfly", in July, at the Estense Castle in Ferrara ("Lirica in Castello" festival) and at the Arena of Palazzo Bellini in Comacchio. In may of the same year, again for the Teatro Abbado in Ferrara, instead, "Die Zauberfloete" by W. A. Mozart, in a version designed to raise awareness among young people about environmental issues, production resumed, with an itinerant direction, in June 2018 in the historic center of Ferrara (Papageno goes to the city). In May 2018 she followed the direction of the show "Chi ha rubato il naso a Pinocchio" of Victor Rambaldi on the texts of the same and from a project by Carlo Rambaldi. In July 2018 she realized the staging of "Nabucco" by G. Verdi for the "Lirica in Castello" festival in Ferrara and for the "Marghera Opera Festival". In February 2019 she followed the staging of "Tosca" by G. Puccini for the Teatro "De Micheli" in Copparo. The same title was then re-proposed, with a new stage and a new cast, in the Ferrara summer, at the courtyard of the Estense Castle (summer season of the Teatro Comunale – "Lirica in castello" festival). In February 2020 he brought to the stage of the Teatro "De Micheli" in Copparo "L'Elisir d'amore" by G. Donizetti with the winners of the seventh opera competition "Città di Ferrara". Since 2018 she is responsible for the programming and didactic director of the House of Music and Arts of Vigarano Mainarda, center of cultural activity and music school in which she teaches opera singing. She activated (October 2018) an acting training school with courses for adults, teenagers and children for which she follows the courses of expressive reading, character study, vocal setting, diction and breathing. Among the titles staged in 2018/19 and directed by her, "Il naso" by N. Gogol, "Il cielo... and her colors" written by her for the little ones and also a reduced form of "The Wizard of Oz" for a project related to protected structures for minors in difficulty. Her "Anime: emotions, obsessions, perversions, ...", theatrical performance, obtained at the last Festival of theater schools (FEST 2019) the technical jury prize as best show. Since 2005 she has also been involved in the training and preparation of young opera singers and young actors, in constant contact with schools of all levels. Since 2010 Maria Cristina Osti has created the International Opera Competition "Città di Ferrara" for young opera singers, now in its seventh edition, in which the prize consists of the debut of a role in an opera put up for grabs on the prestigious stage of the Teatro Comunale "C. Abbado" in Ferrara and other theaters in the area, as well as concerts in prestigious venues in the region. In March 2018 the competition migrated to the Chinese city of Chengdu obtaining acclaim and a warm success. Some of the winners had the opportunity to debut in Italy in prestigious contexts. She has served on commissions of international opera competitions including OPEN OPERA Talent. On 3 September 2020 she staged, taking care of the direction, for LIFE (Ferrara) in the Matteotti Gallery, the piece "Venga la notte" from a story by N. Canazza taken from "La lingua di Venere" with the help of the actress D. Patroncini. 11- 12 September 2020 Teatro Comunale "C. Abbado" and staged L'Elisir D'Amore by G.
